Independent Study

Independent study proposals must be prepared under the supervision of a faculty mentor from LALIS and submitted to the department for approval one semester in advance (October 15 for spring semester; February 15 for fall semester).

Course credit will be granted for independent study projects depending on the proposed course objectives.

Approved research projects equivalent to a 400-level seminar will be worth one (1) unit. Projects not primarily concerned with academic research will not be granted more than 0.5 units.

Students must fulfill all requirements for the LALIS major (or minor) prior to undertaking an independent study project.
